Definition of Gypsum Board
First of all, a gypsum board also known as plasterboard or drywall, is a versatile construction material made from a gypsum core between layers of paper. It is mainly used for interior walls and ceilings in construction and renovation works. Thanks to its exceptional fire resistance, ease of installation and affordability, it is an indispensable product.
Various Types of Plasterboard
There are 4 types of plasterboards, each with its own advantages and benefits in its filed of application, namely:
Regular Plasterboard
Regular Plasterboard
Firstly, regular plasterboard is used as a covering material for walls, ceilings and partition walls. Similarly, it is ideal for gypsum false ceilings. At the same time, it is available as square, tapered and bevelled edges. Regular gypsum board gives variety of sizes in 1200 mm width from 2000 to 3600 mm length. Besides, possibilities of thicknesses are 9, 12.5 and 15 mm.
Water Resistant Gypsum Board
Moisture Resistant Gypsum Board
Secondly, waterproof gypsum board is used in waterproof environments. In other words, this board is suitable for areas like bathrooms and kitchens. Available as square, tapered and bevelled edges.
Moisture resistant gypsum board provides sizes in 1200 mm width and length from 2000 to 3600 mm. Furthermore, existing thicknesses are 12.5 and 15 mm.

Thirdly, fire resistant plasterboard is convenient in interior walls and areas that require high level of fire protection. Likewise, this panel proposes sizes in 1200 mm width and length from 2000 to 3600 mm. Moreover 12.5 and 15 mm are its existing thicknesses.

Lastly, exterior boards are used as covering material for wall cladding. Indeed, they are used in commercial and residential exterior applications with indirect exposure to weather. Said differently, exterior sheathing provides fire resistance and additional structural strength when used under exterior finishes. Gypsum exterior sheets prevents mold, provides insulation. Also, they are resistant to water, moisture and weather conditions.
