The tough competition as a result of increasing consumption of gypsum board and our desire to increase our export sales and market share led us to produce a lighter gypsum board which will also help to overcome logistic difficulties we have been facing recently.
Considering logistic difficulties we have been facing globally due to Covid-19 and recently increasing freight & transportation costs, we have decided to come with a solution by producing lighter plasterboard which will help to save cost and time by increasing the quantity of gypsum board we transport in a container or truck.
Logistic Advantages Of Lightweight Gypsum Board
First of all, lightweight gypsum board will give you logistic advantages like:
- Less transportation costs
- Saving time and energy
Less Transportation Cost
Then, lightweight drywall board reduces transportation cost by 17%. While loading 1100 sheets of regular gypsum board, you can have 1350 sheets of lightweight boards. In other words, while you need 9 containers for transportation of 10,000 panels of gypsum board, 7,5 containers will be enough for same quantity. While reducing your transportation cost by 17%, lightweight gypsum board helps to save custom clearance, handling, discharging and storage cost.
Considering the sizes 1200x2000mm, 1200x2400mm and 1200x3000mm which are the most common in Europe and Africa, you will have approximately 3800m2 of plasterboard per container instead 3100m2 of traditional regular gypsum board.
Easier Discharging
Also, discharging and storage of gypsum board pallets will be easier as pallets of lightweight gypsum boards are lighter comparing to regular boards.
Application Advantages Of Lightweight Plasterboard
Considering lightweight gypsum board is 19kg which means 4kg lighter than regular boards, you will be able to lift easier and save energy during installation of ceilings and partition walls. Another advantage will be shaping the boards as lightweight gypsum boards are easier to cut. Thus, lightweight gypsum boards are highly recommended for your drywall works.
No Extra Equipment Required
Produced in standard size and thickness, light gypsum board can be installed with same metal frames using studs and tracks for partition wall and ceiling c, ceiling u or omega furring channel for suspended ceiling. You may have a look at metal profiles we do supply, here. USG ready mixed joint compound is also recommended for joint and finishing of lightweight plasterboard.
Regular vs. Lightweight Gypsum Board
Being 17% lighter in weight, lightweight gypsum board gives you same sag resistance, flexibility and thermal resistance. While regular gypsum board is 8kg per m2, lighter board is 6,8kg/m2. This is the main reason it is recommended for ceiling works which require more energy and time to install.
